Launched in October, both Otoño Cultural and the Tenerife festival 2018 will last throughout November bringing a host of colourful happenings to the island, but these are far from the only attractions Tenerife has to offer this month. Tenerife events in November 2018 entail the usual palette of music, dance, sports, festivals, fiestas and more, and it’s only a matter of knowing what’s happening when — which is where we come in! Art, Food & Family-Friendly
November 2018 on Tenerife is a month dreamed up for gourmet lovers. La Laguna will be celebrating wine all month long, including hosting another Cochino Negro festival Nov. 9-11. Pitching in on Nov.3 is Las Galletas, with a whole-day oceanfront food & wine fiesta.
Foodie-favourite the Tapas Time route ends in Granadilla de Abona on Nov. 4, but a similar event begins in Guía de Isora on Nov. 22. Also, Los Realejos will be hosting the Patapas 2018 competition Nov. 2-18, while Adeje is launching a month-long gourmet festival entitled Degústame on Nov. 2.
The latter event is especially suited to families with kids, as is the Reineta Apple Festival closing Nov. 5 in El Sauzal and the Tri-Continental Crafts Fair, a biennial event showcasing Latin American, African and South European craftsmanship that began Oct. 27 and ends Nov. 4. The Nov. 10-11 Crafts, Wine and Chestnuts Fair in La Victoria will also entail workshops for kids in addition to great food, music and general fun, while the Kids Pool Party at the Hard Rock Hotel in Adeje (Nov. 1) is specifically tailored to families with children.
If you enjoyed the island-wide clown festival in October, you might also like the Tuberías Family Circus taking the stage in Santa Cruz on Nov. 10, the same day San Juan de la Rambla will be hosting its unique Canary Islands’ Baroque Market. And lastly, don’t miss La Laguna’s White Night fiesta takes place on Nov. 17, a blend of music, dance, food and overall celebrations that will last throughout the night.
The biggest sports meets this month are footraces, namely the Nov. 11 Santa Cruz de Tenerife International Marathon, featuring three distances: 8, 21 and 42 km. Puerto de la Cruz will be hosting the Subida las Aguilas on Nov. 18, as well as the Punta Brava night run on Nov. 24 — the same day a two-distance trail run takes place in El Tanque.
Tegueste’s 10-km Carrera Infierno is set for Nov. 25, the day after the International Underwater Fishing Team Competition — a major event in the sport of underwater fishing that takes place in Guía de Isora on Nov. 23-24.
Music & Dance Events
The first weekend in November brings many concerts to Tenerife, including Submergible at the Buho Club on Nov. 2, Janet Gray starring in the Tina Turner Show in Santa Cruz on Nov. 3 — the same day the La Laguna will be hosting a Amy Winehouse tribute — and Antonio Orozco in Santa Cruz on Nov. 4.
Highlights for the following week include performances by jazz heavyweight Diane Schuur in the capital on the 8th and Miky Woodz and Corona in Adeje (Nov. 10). On the heels of that is the eventful November 16, with Ricardo Alonso, Guillermo Dávila and Carmen Paris all taking the stage in Santa Cruz.
On Nov. 20, Japanese-Canarian band ST Fusion will also be performing in the capital, followed by Leoni Torres taking the stage on the 21st. Anyone interested in Brasilian music should not miss the Concierto Tirando Onda- Roca y Mar on Nov. 23, while rock/punk/heavy metal lovers should check out the Guano Fest on the 24th. Alternatively, you can spend Nov. 24 remembering Queen at La Laguna’s tribute concert.
